Laika von Himmel is a gorgeous 3.5 year old long haired German Shepherd. Don’t let that princess look fool you, Laika is very charming with everyone she meets at the rescue, dogs included. However once you become her person she becomes very protective of you. We have been told that in every other way, once in a home, she is the perfect dog, housebroken, knows her commands, loving, calm, follows you around but she does not want anyone to come into her house, you become hers and she will protect you with every fiber of her body. Laika would do fine with a single person who can have other dogs or not, but someone who understands that when people come over, she needs her own space, either in a crate in your bedroom or safe place outside. Laika has had two failed homes, both younger men who were not savvy enough to deal with Laika. With the right owner, Laika could learn that she was not responsible for her owner but responsible to them. So we need either a very savvy person or a wise enough person to keep Laika away from situations where she feels she needs to guard.
